Office of Fair Trading - e-protection strategy
Jennifer contributed to the OFT e-protection consultation in November 2009.
As mandated in the Consumer White Paper, the OFT is to produce, by the end of 2010, a national e-protection strategy for consumer protection and enforcement on the internet.
The objective of the strategy is to enable all agencies involved to work together even more effectively, ensuring lack of duplication and better coordination of e-protection activities (including intelligence gathering and e-enforcement). In doing so, the OFT will consider the implications in terms of resources, training and staff requirements.
The OFT envisage the drafting of the national strategy as a project with OFT lead and resources but in consultation with a wide range of stakeholders.
